Testing loads and assessment of fatigue life of vehicles and supporting structures

Since 1980 the Institute has performed tests and analysis of loads occurring during operation in order to estimate fatigue life expressed in the number of cycles of work or operation time to appearing fatigue damages.

The tests are performed according to the methodologies including guidelines regarding the choice of operation conditions and the time of registration. The registered courses of loads are processed in a minicomputer. As a result of the processing the spectra of amplitudes for supporting structures and other mechanisms are defined. Fatigue life of tested unit is defined as well.

The parameters of function describing the spectra are dependent on characteristic parameters of mechanism or the structure, which enables to use the spectra for estimation subassemblies of similar structure and for programming quick fatigue tests before a prototype is made.
