Testing noise level

Testing noise level is performed in the range of:

  • testing noise level at work-place,
  • testing noise emitted to environment by machines and devices.

Testing noise level at work-place

Testing noise level at work-place are performed in order to determine influence of the noise on persons (operator or driver) operating the device. They can be made according to various correction scales.
The results of tests are presented in the form of equivalent level of sound or as a level of acoustic pressure in separate third or octave bands.

On basis of measurement results it is possible to determine the level of exposure to noise in reference to 8-hour per 24 hour period of work-time or the level of exposure to noise in reference to a week of work.

Testing noise emitted to environment by machines and devices

As part of testing noise emitted to environment by machines and devices the Institute performs measurement of acoustic pressure according to requirements of directive 2000/14/EU. The results of measurements are presented as equivalent level of sound (or to customer's wish as a level of acoustic pressure in separate third or octave bands). On the base of the results a level of acoustic power for the machine is calculated which is necessary to obtain conformity certificate and to determine guaranteed level of acoustic power.

Test stand and apparatus

Tests are performed on test stand fulfilling requirements of PN-EN ISO 3744. The stand ensures performing measurements without influence of interferences from environment.

The modern system of PULSE 3560C (Brüel&Kjaer) is used to make measurements. The system enables to measure, register and analyse sounds. The system also makes it possible to perform measurements in 6 points at the same time, which fulfills requirements of directive 2000/14/EU.
